Getting Started

Get started in just a few steps and bring visual data analysis into your Google Sheets.

Install Vizzu

What is Vizzu for Google Sheets?

Vizzu for Google Sheets is an add-on that brings visual data analysis and animated data narratives directly into your spreadsheets.

With Vizzu, you can:1, Visualize your data interactively without leaving Google Sheets
2, Use smart suggestions to quickly generate animated charts
3, Refine and expand your data story with seamless transitions
4, Open your data story in the Vizzu app for full customization and export options

It’s the easiest way to turn raw data into compelling, animated insights - all inside Google Sheets!

How to install the Vizzu add-on?

1, Open the Google Sheet you want to work with
2, Go to Extensions → Add-ons → Get add-ons
3, Search for Vizzu, then open and click Install - or, get it directly from this link
4, If installed correctly, you will now see “VIZZU” under Extensions in Google Sheets

Do I need a Vizzu account?

Yes! To use Vizzu for Google Sheets, you need to sign up for a Vizzu account, which you can do directly from the add-on:
- Sign up using your Google account or email
- The registration process continues in a new tab
- Once registered, return to your Google Sheet and log in via your credentials

Can I use Vizzu with my Google account?

Yes! If you already have a Vizzu account, you can log in using Google SSO or email directly within the add-on.

⚠️ Important: Ensure you are using the same Google account for both:
- Google Sheets login
- Vizzu add-on login

If different accounts are used (e.g., Chrome login vs. Sheets login vs. add-on login), it may cause anomalies, and the add-on might not load properly.

👉 For the best experience, keep your logins consistent across Google and Vizzu.

Limitations and Support

Current limitations and known issues with some troubleshooting steps.

After login, a different page loaded in the add-on. What happened?

After signing up or logging in, the add-on might load the full Vizzu web app instead of the expected interface. This means you see your Vizzu Gallery page, which doesn’t fit properly within the add-on window.

✅ Simply restart the add-on:
1, Go to Extensions → Vizzu → Start visualizing - the correct interface should now appear

The add-on doesn’t load. What should I do?

This could be due to a login mismatch between:
- Your Google Sheets account
- Your Vizzu add-on login
- Your Chrome account
(if using Google SSO for Vizzu)

✅ Make sure you’re using the same Google account across all three. If possible, log out and log back in using a single account.

Can multiple users create or edit a data story from the same Google Sheet?

🚫 No, not at the moment.
Currently, only one user can create a Vizzu data story per Google Sheet. If a spreadsheet is shared with multiple users, other users cannot create a separate data story from the same sheet, nor can they edit the existing one.

✅ Workaround: If another user needs to create a data story, they should make a copy of the sheet and use the add-on from their own version.

Are there size or performance limitations?

Vizzu can handle spreadsheets with tens of thousands of rows, but performance may slow down with larger datasets.

What to expect with large sheets:
-
It may take longer for the Data Series to load in the add-on
- Interactivity might feel slower with extremely large datasets

✅ For a smoother experience, consider using a filtered dataset or opening your visualization in the Vizzu web app for more advanced capabilities.

Is Google Sheets synchronized with the Vizzu app?

This feature is currently in Beta, so synchronization is not fully reliable.

We’re working on better integration in future updates!
